Abstract
This paper analyzes the vibratory loads of pitch-links for a rigid coaxial rotor in wind-tunnel tests. A rotorcraft comprehensive analysis code, CAMRAD II, is used for the aeromechanics modeling and analyses. The detailed modeling for a rotor control system including swashplates, pitch-links, and pitch-horns is applied. When the rotor control system modeling is improved through the present work, the aerodynamic performances of the rigid coaxial rotor, such as, the rotor lift, torque, and effective lift-to-drag ratio, and the 2P rotor hub vibratory loads are well correlated with the measured data and previous predictions. The pitch-link vibratory loads in 1P to 4P components are nicely or moderately compared to the wind-tunnel test results. In addition, the peak-to-peak values of the pitch-link vibratory loads for the upper and lower rotors increase as the advance ratio (or wind speed) increases.
